Our Lenten midweek services will be organized around the theme of “water in Jesus’ earthly ministry”. This week’s focus will be “Water and Blood Flow from Jesus’ Side” (John 19). The service will be live-streamed.

This somber service is dramatic and emotional for many, as it focuses upon the Passion and Crucifixion of our Lord. We ask that you come to church in silence, refrain from talking to one another except in the responsives of the liturgy, and leave also in silence.

Although often celebrated as the “Sunday of the Passion”, this is primarily a consideration for congregations that do not hold special Holy Week services. Here at St. Peter’s we have special Holy Week services on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, so the focus of Palm Sunday remains the traditional celebration of Jesus’ Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem which occurred on the 1st day of Holy Week. In this service worshipers will have the opportunity to receive an ashen cross imposed upon their foreheads in sign of sin-wrought mortality, humble repentance, and the confidence that is ours by virtue of our Baptism into Christ’s death and resurrection.
